This document will explain most of the things you need to know from Hampaslupa Social Golf Club. It will present information regarding membership, fees, activities, awards, inter-club qualifying and more. And hopefully a document we go back to when there have questions and disputes in the club.
IT is all about your club membership; becoming a member, getting a club handicap and its validity, insurance and more.
Hampaslupa Social Golf Club (HL) plays a game every month from different golf course across the metro Sydney. Check out the list of monthly games in this site and express your intension to play with the club by contacting the club captain to get booked. You are required to get a handicap then pay a minimal annual membership fee (prorated) to become a full HL member.
You have to have at least three (3) games with the club to get a handicap. The club captain will then determine your HL social handicap after the three (3) games. This handicap will be the handicap you use when playing with the HL monthly games and may used as the handicap to any SICGOC organised tournaments. If you have an AGU handicap then this will reduce the number of games to two (2) to get the HL handicap, just inform the club captain what you AGU handicap is.
Your HL handicap is current and valid if you have played at least once with the club’s monthly games in the last six (6) months. To re-activate the HL handicap you will have to go through the handicapping process again. This is so that the handicap you are using reflects the game you are playing.
The club has an insurance policy to cover all HL members in their daily golfing activities. All members if you require so, can get a copy of the policy from the club president. Read Insurance PDS and please note that this document is owned by insurance company and posted for reference purposes only.
Anything about the fees that you will incur being a member and guest of the club.
Membership fee is a club insurance that you are willing to join the club, which also is one source of the club to keep going. Part of this membership fee goes to the club insurance which will protect you from any accident you encounter in any golf course.
This is another source of fund for the club. Although it is part of the monthly games, you are not required to pay this if you are not playing. This is included the green fee, compulsory skins (not if your for handicapping), and a minimal club fee.
There are other option cost/expense you may incur during the monthly games but this is purely your call. Some small mini competitions amongst members are also happening to add extra excitement.
The club have activities that may incur cost but this is not always the case. Just in-case we want you to know that this may happen. A good example is the end of the year awarding and gathering event. This event is where most of the clubs fund get spent to recognise achievers for the year and gather to end the season. Extra cost only gets incurred if the club’s fund is not sufficient to the event.
These are all the foreseen club activities.
HL has twelve (12) games played through out the year, scattered across the twelve months. The season starts in December and ends in November, this is so because of the awards and recognitions that happen in December in each year as well. Venues, schedules and spots available are normally announced before the season starts.
Sydney Inter-club Golf Organising Committee (SICGOC) has an annual event for member club to compete against each other; this is called Sydney Inter-club competition. Club selects top members of the club to become a part of the iter-club team (see SIC Qualifying).
A number of golf tournaments and activities that the club supports but this do not mean you are not allowed to join any available golf activities around. Few of these are recognised by the club to be included in the annual POY and Money List ranking that the club is running through out the season.
The official last event for the season is the end of Year Awards and Recognition also known as the Christmas Party. In this event, the club recognises the monthly winners and the top achievers (see Awards) for the season. This is also the time to show off to your family what you have achieved in your golfing career.
