FORE !!! That used to be the most important word amongst the members when they first started playing golf not too long ago.

In fact it was around 4 years ago when the first group of four players started playing golf regularly every{mosgoogle right} Saturdays at Woodville Golf Course and Sundays at Hudson Park. These four players namely: Jun Almario, Captain Patrick dela Pena, El Presidente Ricky Meteoro and Josef Inciong were the original Hampaslupa members. Although they did not realized it then, they would be the cornerstone of the future club.

During the next year, the group of four slowly grew to a group of eight – ten players playing regularly during Saturdays. Most of them were relatively new to the game so the foremost word you will ever hear on the course is “FORE !!!” Balls were flying all over the place except on the fairways. Golfers where ducking for cover everytime these guys would tee up. Even with all the frustrations of trying to learn the ABC’s of the game, the golf addicts never gave up trying. In doing so, their own camaraderie developed.

It was during one of those Saturday events that everyone decided to have a little more challenge to the game and in doing so to improve their own scores. They began looking around for a convenient home golf course to call their own and as well will give them an Australian Golf Union Handicap (AGU handicap). There were many courses being decided upon and finally everyone agreed on Windsor Golf Course due to the following criteria set by the members : 1) It should be a championship course. 2) It should be in close proximity to majority of the members. 3) Membership fees are reasonable. and 4) Clubhouse facilities.

That big move proved to be a great success story for the members. Their individual scores improve greatly, golf events are being won by fellow members, membership is slowly increasing, mateship especially at Hole 19 is greatly appreciated and more importantly the Hampaslupa Golf Club is formed and now recognized by other Filipino Golf Clubs.

To an outsider, Hampaslupa, seems like a strange name to call your golf club. It is strange but it will always remind each and every member of their roots. Nowadays the foremost word you will hear around the course is a loud “YESSS”!
